The two speed transmission is great and makes the truck more versatile. Slow on rocks, fast on dirt. My only complaint are the plastic gears in the differential. My kids were playing with the truck on carpet and managed to break a tooth off of the pinion gear. I take blame for this, as they really shouldn't be using it on such a high traction surface. I think it would have done fine on dirt rocks where the tires can spin. Anyway, a couple sets of metal diff gears later and the truck is running great.
